Good morning, Ghana. Here are four verified updates for Friday, October ninth. The Bank of Ghana is warning the public against twenty mobile loan applications operating without authorisation. Borrowers are advised to verify a lender’s regulatory status before sharing personal information or accepting credit. The National Homeownership Fund has reduced the interest rate under its mortgage scheme from thirteen-point-five to eight-point-four per cent. Lending resumed in September, with repayment periods of up to twenty years. More than two-thousand-one-hundred people died in road crashes across Ghana between January and September. Police describe the crashes as preventable and are urging motorists to obey traffic regulations. Internationally, militants affiliated with Islamic State attacked a military base in northeastern Nigeria. The Nigerian military says its forces repelled the assault, but several soldiers were killed.
