Good morning, Ghana. Today is Monday, the fifth of October. Ghana’s three striking teacher unions are expected to announce their decision today after reviewing the government’s latest proposals. The Ghana Education Service also faces a four p.m. deadline to submit outstanding promotion records for payroll processing. From eleven a.m. GMT, the Health Ministry’s recruitment portal is due to open for four hundred and sixty-five nursing and pharmacy vacancies across teaching hospitals, CHAG facilities and the Ghana Health Service. The New Patriotic Party has elected John Boadu as National Chairman with two thousand, eight hundred and eighty-eight votes. Justin Kodua Frimpong retained the General Secretary position as the party reorganises ahead of the 2028 elections. In Ethiopia, federal forces have retaken Mekelle airport from Tigrayan fighters.
