Good morning, Ghana. Today is Sunday, the fourth of October. The nationwide teachers’ strike remains in force after talks ended without agreement. Unions say they will review the government’s latest proposals and announce their position on Monday. The Health Ministry has announced a mop-up recruitment exercise for Monday, covering four hundred and sixty-five nursing and pharmacy vacancies across teaching hospitals, CHAG facilities and the Ghana Health Service. The National Lottery Authority has transferred ten million Ghana cedis to the Consolidated Fund, its first payment since 2017. The Finance Minister is calling for a review of agreements that reduce the state’s lottery revenue. In Guinea-Bissau, the military government has blocked former president Umaro Sissoco Embaló from returning today, citing security concerns.
