GoldBod reports September foreign-exchange proceeds above target

GoldBod reported US$1.871 billion in foreign-exchange proceeds from its small-scale gold trading operations in September, above its US$1.4 billion target. Ghanaian Times and Citi Newsroom reported the announcement. These are the board’s stated proceeds; the figures alone do not establish a change in the cedi’s exchange rate.

Good morning, Ghana. Today is Saturday, the third of October. At La beachfront, SSNIT says the demolitions protected the Labadi and La Palm hotel assets from unauthorised occupation. Resort operators dispute the land claim; government says this was not a flood-control exercise. The nationwide teachers’ strike continues after Friday’s talks ended without agreement. Unions are reviewing new proposals; government says promotion data for up to fifty-one thousand staff will be validated on Monday. Ghana’s trade surplus fell from four point three billion dollars in the first quarter to one point three billion in the second, as imports rose sharply and exports slipped. And in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ebola deaths have passed four thousand. A new treatment study is enrolling people exposed to the Bundibugyo strain. Clear facts help us make better choices. I’m Kofi. Have a thoughtful Saturday.
