The Agona Nkwanta District Police Command has arrested a man allegedly seen assaulting a woman in a viral video, the Western Regional Police Command has said.

In a press release dated 13 October 2026, police identified the arrested suspect as Emmanuel Kwofie and the woman as Diana Mensah, 25. They said he was arrested at about 7 p.m. on 12 October 2026 at Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and Ms Mensah are married and live together at Domeabra in the Agona Nkwanta Municipality. The release said the woman deals in second-hand clothing while the suspect is a farmer.

Police said that on 8 October 2026, the suspect accused Ms Mensah of having an extramarital affair and allegedly subjected her to severe beating, which was captured in the video. A good Samaritan reportedly rescued her and took her to Agona Nkwanta Polyclinic, where she was treated and discharged.

The police said the suspect remains in custody and will be put before court. The allegations have not been tested in court, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
