University administrators suspend strikes, with return to work set for 19 October
GAUA and TUSAAG members are due back on Monday, while outstanding demands remain under negotiation. Students should check their university’s own notices.
University administrators are due to return to work on Monday, 19 October, after the Ghana Association of University Administrators and the Technical University Senior Administrators Association of Ghana suspended their strikes, according to the Ghana News Agency.
The suspension allows work to resume while unresolved employment demands remain under negotiation. GAUA president Kwaku Karikari Amoah told reporters that progress in discussions with the government had enabled the union to suspend its action, ChannelOne reported.
What students should check
A return by administrators should not be read as a single timetable for every university. Students should follow their institution’s official reopening, registration and lecture notices.
The development concerns university administrators, not a new announcement about the separate pre-tertiary teachers’ dispute.
