Ghana Water plans to procure 72,000 meters and introduce remote readings

Ghana Water plans to procure 72,000 meters this year and targets remote meter reading from the first quarter of 2027.

GH Today

Ghana Water Limited plans to procure 72,000 water meters during 2026 as part of efforts to improve billing and reduce the number of customers charged through estimates.

The company also aims to introduce remote meter reading in the first quarter of 2027. According to the announcement, meters will be tested before deployment.

Remote reading could allow consumption data to be collected without routine physical visits, while a larger supply of meters could help address gaps affecting new and existing customers. The timetable remains an implementation target and will depend on procurement, testing and deployment.

Customers should continue to use Ghana Water's official service channels for account-specific billing or meter enquiries.
