The Ghana Police Service says the Inspector-General of Police has deployed an additional specialised police operations team and a multi-purpose armoured vehicle to Nkwanta Municipality to strengthen security in the area.
In a press release dated 14 October 2026, the service said the team arrived in the municipality on the same day to reinforce the existing police deployment and support ongoing joint police-military operations aimed at maintaining law and order.
The police said the joint security forces remained committed to protecting lives and property, safeguarding public safety and sustaining peace in the municipality.
The service urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel, volunteer credible information and refrain from acts that could undermine security operations. It added that public cooperation was essential to maintaining peace, security and stability in Nkwanta.
The release was signed by John Nchor, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Public Affairs Officer for the Oti Region, on behalf of the Ghana Police Service Regional Headquarters in Dambai.
