Cocoa Capital launches GH¢16.3bn domestic financing programme
COCOBOD says the programme will mobilise domestic capital for cocoa financing. The headline figure is the programme target, not the amount already raised.
Cocoa Capital PLC has launched a bond and note programme on the Ghana Stock Exchange aimed at raising GH¢16.3 billion, according to COCOBOD’s announcement of 14 October.
The programme comprises GH¢14 billion in commercial paper and GH¢2.3 billion in bonds. COCOBOD describes the initiative as part of a shift towards domestic capital to support cocoa financing for the 2026/27 season and reduce reliance on external borrowing.
A programme target, not cash already raised
The GH¢16.3 billion figure describes the intended scale of the programme. It should not be read as a confirmed amount already collected or paid to farmers.
COCOBOD separately reported approximately GH¢3.59 billion in investor bids for the inaugural issuance. Bids are distinct from the overall programme target and do not, on their own, establish final settlement or disbursement.
Governance remains central
COCOBOD’s leadership said success would depend on disciplined financial management, governance and using the proceeds for their intended purposes. The announcement outlines a financing framework; it does not by itself demonstrate improved payment times or production outcomes.
GH.today is reporting the announcement, not recommending the securities as an investment.
